We cannot fully espresso our excitement for National Coffee Day! Join us in warming your heart this September 29th.
A Brew-ti-ful Holiday
Celebrate National Coffee Day with a cup, or two, of Joe to go. According to coffee experts, the perfect cup of coffee blends: strong aromas, rich bodies, acidity, and palatable flavors.
It’s believed that coffee originated in Mokha, Yemen, circa 1450. Specifically, monks began to brew coffee, after a spiritual voyage across Ethiopia. Further legends declare that Baba Budan smuggled coffee beans out of Yemen. According to the lore, Budan planted the beans in Mysore, India. Afterwards, the caffeinated beverage’s popularity spread throughout Italy, France, Indonesia, and all around the world.
Here’s where you can get the best coffee in Baltimore.
We’ve Bean Thinking of These Shops A-Latte
All cafes listed below are within walking distance to The Promenade:
Aveley Farms
In 2016, Aveley Farms opened in Harbor East with a five-pound bag of green coffee beans and a dream. Today, they’ve expanded and continued to ethically source beans and directly trade with small, international farms. Aveley Farms is also committed to promoting sustainability by #ReThinkingCoffee. If you’re looking for a new blend, we recommend their Guatemala Cimarron Asproguate roast; it is a washed, medium roast with notes of caramel, chocolate, and brown sugar. There’s also hints of Mandarin orange.
Ceremony Coffee
Ceremony Coffee Roasters originated in 2002. Its premise, however, began with the idea that “coffee is made to be special.” According to its founders, beautifully roasted blends can connect humans across geographic locations, spheres, and worlds. Today, Harbor Point’s Ceremony Coffee is particularly known for their smooth-bodied, rich cold brews. Try Ceremony’s Cafe Dua; it’s a vegan Vietnamese-influenced nitro cold brew topped with a sweetened coconut cream. Trust us, the cold brew is mug-nificent.
Daily Grind
Located along the water in Fell’s Point, Daily Grind is a hip, charming, and “funky” local coffee shop. Please stop by and sip their organic, locally-produced coffee. If interested, order a Ferrero Rocher (a mocha with hazelnut syrup), or a non-alcoholic White Russian.
Other Great Coffee Shops in Baltimore
We’re spilling the beans about some of our favorite coffee shops in the city.
Order & Chaos Coffee
Order & Chaos Coffee in Federal Hill is a social hub serving up extraordinary — and extra-caffeinated — espresso shots. Are you looking for a delectably sweet drink? Order their Pecan Pie Latte, composed of blueberry and maple syrups. We promise there’s no chaos associated with their specialty lattes!
Vent
Vent Coffee Roasters in Hampden is absolutely simply amazing. Their innovative technology, paired with the best roasts, create the perfect blend. If you’re interested, try Vent’s Cream Soda; it’s a caffeinated twist on an American classic. The “cream” is your choice of macadamia milk or half-and-half and the “soda” is coffee or cardamom. You can also add an extra shot, or two, of espresso.
Vagrant Coffee
Vagrant Coffee is available in a variety of locations, including: Inner Harbor, Station North, Wicomico, and Pigtown. This autumn, we recommend their Lenore latte. Paired with full-bodied espresso, this latte is blended with lavender, clove, and charcoal. If you’re looking to spice it up, order their Honey Habanero Latte.
